Turbulent Tuesday

Today was fucking exhausting, and I didn’t even really do a lot.

I started out getting up to make breakfast. I precooked the pound of chorizo to use in omelets and mini quiches. I’m gonna do the mini quiches soon to do breakfast prep for Ces, since her commute will be longer going back to her old job.

I used a little bit for a omelet for breakfast and then had my coffee.

In the morning I sat down at the computer and started doing stuff on the computer. Started out watching some shows and doing a bit of browsing around for jobs and shit. In addition, I told my discovery to my play group that get on to SpellTable with me. They were really cool about it and incredibly accepting. It actually felt a bit overwhelming and I had to calm down. Thankfully Tesla was very well responsive to my attack. He came to me immediately when I called and while I was filling my water he bumped my leg to let me know he was there. Then after I put the water up I sat down and he crawled into my lap to chill with me for a bit. I was so proud of him for how well he listened tome that I had to treat him in triplicate.

After I settled down I came back to the desk to look into more stuff. That’s when my buddy Rob hit me up and told me about the fetch lands available for purchase on the Arena store. I got them right away so I could replace the Windswept Heaths in the deck with Verdant Catacombs, to better round out the mana fixing. In addition to that I also took out the triome to replace it with the Blue White Surveil land to better the mana fixing as well as giving an additional Surveil to dig with.

After updating the decklist in Arena, and on the StreamDecker, I had a convo with my mom for a bit and that got a bit emotional, too. I’ve always been glad that my parents have always been there for me as best that they could, so I’m thankful to have them both of them while I’m figuring myself out through this, too.

Around lunch time I decided it was time to sit down and get started on my new client’s site. Problem was, the site was rather slow and began experiencing service outages. So that turned in to about 1.25 hours of optimizing to stop the load on the server before their hosting provider ripped them a new one cuz I was ripping into their software. LMAO! After my brain was about spent with that, I didn’t want to start rebuilding it until we had a backup. However, no way in hell I was going to install a backup plugin into the CMS to put more load back onto the server, when their hosting provider should have a backup tool in the control panel. So I emailed them the update of my work with the request to backup the site from today, so that when I return to work tomorrow, or the next day, I’ve got the restore point to start from in case of dire straights.

The client was appreciative of my explanation with my supporting documentation, which I was happy for, because I feel it’s better to try to be as transparent as possible. I’m well aware the work I do is very obscure and so it’s hard to actually say that what I do is worthwhile in most cases, so rather than having to explain that to anybody I like having the ability to show them a brief detailed description of what I did, and why, so that I can help my case. Thankfully, this client appreciates my verbosity, rather than what I’m used to hearing of things like “I don’t want to read all that, just do the needful.” *shudders*

However, this is why I’m so happy with this new client, because they are most welcoming to me and what I’m trying to do to help them. So I get to continue being myself and doing my best to help further their cause. 😀

After that I was getting a tad exhausted mentally, plus the previous two emotional exhaustions, that I kinda just vegged out for the rest of the afternoon chatting with friends online, going through job postings, blah blah blah. You know, the same fucking bullshit that every other unemployed tech pro is probably experiencing right now, too. LMAO! Hopefully those of you that are, are finding some work that others either don’t know how to do, or just don’t have the time or drive to do it, that you can help them with, like I am.

Ces got home from work and was a bit tired from her first day back at her old job. I was defrosting the Carne for tacos for dinner, but she wanted something prompt, and so leftover hotdogs won over. During dinner we hit up Josh to see about hitting our chiropractor for an adjustment, since he’d been closed Monday and we couldn’t go Saturday after fuckin’ up my back a little working on the fence.

It was a pretty quick trip there and back, to try to beat nightfall since Josh had to head somewhere else after.

After that Ces got to try out her new Tefici Fleece Queen sized dual-zone heated blanket for the first time. I won it for like $16 off Nellis, when it goes for much more. She got comfy and rolled herself into the middle of the blanket like a little purrito and wound up falling asleep for like an hour while I kinda shut my brain off and watched toons for a bit before starting this post.

Other than that, the day wasn’t all that eventful, but it was mentally turbulent AF. Nite y’all.
